If your student needs help we want to make sure they have an opportunity to fill that need. First, we suggest you talk to your teacher then explore our free tutoring opportunities or our WWS Tutoring List. In addition to tutoring consider attending a Family Make Night or a CoderDojo event. Our next Family Make Night is January 30.

TUTORING

  1. WHAT: Tutoring for students who need homework assistance

  2. WHO: Tutors include adult staff members and National Honor Society students

  3. WHERE: Westfield High School Learning Center

  4. WHEN: 1st and 3rd Wednesday nights, starting in September

  5. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: For all students K-12 in the district

CODERDOJO

  1. WHAT: Enrichment opportunity for students to work with computer engineers to design apps for local businesses

  2. WHO: Computer Engineers

  3. WHERE: Westfield High School

  4. WHEN: 2nd Wednesday of each month, starting in September

  5. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: For students in grades 7-12 who have some experience or interest in Computer Science

FAMILY MAKE NIGHT

A FREE opportunity for your students to explore the possibilities. Please register.

  1. WHAT: Enrichment opportunity for students and their families to come and build things in The Idea Farm (past projects have been an automated Rock, Paper, Scissors game with a BBC MicroBit computer, designing and 3D printing a personalized keychain, laser engraving wood, and other fun projects!)

  2. WHO: Joel Bruns, Adult Staff Members

  3. WHERE: Westfield High School

  4. WHEN: 4th Wednesday of each month, starting in September

  5. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:For any family in the district; Parents MUST attend with their children

Tutoring Opportunities throughout the District via Helping Hands

  1. WHAT: Helping Hands is a tutoring program that works with the Westfield Youth Assistance Program

  2. WHO: Over 50 Westfield High School students volunteer to tutor students

  3. WHERE: Oak Trace, Washington Woods, Carey Ridge,and Monon Trail Elementary

  4. WHEN: Once a week for 45 minutes from 3:45 - 4:30, begins at the end of September/beginning of October

  5. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: Students are selected by teachers or administration after being identified as needing extra help in either academics or social skills.
